Amelia Island Chamber Music Festival Launches 2010 Season
With Special February Concerts
Fernandina Beach, Fl—December 16, 2010—The Amelia Island Chamber Music Festival will launch its ninth season with a series of special concerts on February 4, 5 and 6, featuring The Georgian Chamber Players in works by Boccherini, Richard Strauss and Dvořák.
On February 4, a performance will be held at the University of North Florida’s Fine Arts Center at 7:30 PM. This concert will be repeated with a 7:30 PM performance on February 6 at the Amelia Plantation Chapel, 36 Bowman Road, Amelia Island. On February 5, a free community event will be held at 6:00 PM at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 2600 Atlantic Avenue in Fernandina Beach. At this free performance, Christopher Rex and members of The Georgian Chamber Players will preview the balance of the 2010 season, which will run from May 7 to May 30.
Long established on the Atlanta chamber music scene, The Georgian Chamber Players is known for it prestigious series of concerts at Spivey Hall in Atlanta. The ensemble is composed of cellist Christopher Rex, artistic and general manager of the Amelia Island Chamber Music Festival; violinists Amy Schwartz Moretti and Sarah McElravy; and violist Reid Harris. Performing as guest artists will be internationally acclaimed cellist, Andres Diaz, and violist Hsin Yun Huan, recognized as one of the leading violists of her generation.
The February concerts are supported in part by a $9,800 matching grant from the State of Florida’s Division of Cultural Affairs.
