Amelia Island Chamber Music Festival Awarded Grants Of Nearly $23,000 from National Endowment for the Arts, State of Florida and Target
Fernandina Beach, Fl—December 4, 2009—The Amelia Island Chamber Music Festival today announced that it has received grants totaling nearly $23,000 in support of its 2010 season.
The National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) awarded a grant of $10,000 for general program support for the portion of the 2010 Festival that will be held in May. Based on the theme “Masterpieces of Struggle and Joy,” the May Festival will feature such internationally acclaimed stars as pianists Andre Watts, Valentina Lisitsa and Wendy Chen, The Pacifica String Quartet, and cellist Andres Diaz. This is the second year that the NEA has awarded a $10,000 grant to the Amelia Island Chamber Music Festival. Tickets will go on sale in March.
The State of Florida’s Division of Cultural Affairs awarded a $9,800 matching grant in support of special programming in February that will launch the 2010 season. On February 4, the Georgian Chamber Players will perform at the University of North Florida’s Fine Arts Center. This concert will be repeated on Amelia Island on February 6. On February 5, a free community event will be performed on Amelia Island. The Georgian Chamber Players, with guests Andres Diaz, cellist, and Hsin-Yun Huang, violist, will perform music by Boccherini, Dvorak and Strauss. In addition, Target awarded a $3,000 grant to support the free Family Concert during the Festival’s May schedule.
