About the Amelia Island Chamber Music Festival

Who We Are
The nationally acclaimed Amelia Island Chamber Music Festival is a not-for-profit, tax-exempt arts organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Founded in 2001, we promote public appreciation and education about chamber music through our annual festival and other public events and concerts. Each year, we feature internationally acclaimed talent and the finest musicians from the Southeast to enrich the life of Amelia Island, Jacksonville and surrounding communities of northeastern Florida. The Festival’s performances are held at a variety of venues in Fernandina Beach over a period spanning two weeks in May and June.
Nearly 2,300 people purchased tickets to the performances of the 2009 Festival.

The Festival strives to meet a wide range of musical tastes, including: traditional chamber music string quartets and composers such as Haydn and Mozart; chamber music ensembles, including voice, guitar and wind instruments and composers such as Schoenberg and Stravinsky; and more modern and non-traditional chamber music that explores ethnic and folk traditions as well as twentieth century composers and arrangers.

Providing access to great music and public education are important parts of the Festival’s mission. Each year we offer a number of free concerts to engage a wider segment of the community. The 2009 Festival offered free concerts that entertained more than 1,000 participants including Boys & Girls Clubs youth, residents of assisted living facilities and members of area middle and high school bands. The education of all concert attendees is also a high priority, and at each Festival concert, the artists present information about the works being performed and the composers. The artists also frequently engage in Q&A with the audience.
