2013 Festival Schedule & Ticket Sales (all sales final no refunds no exchange)

The Amelia Island Chamber Music Festival is honored that we have been selected by Country Rocks the Beach as one of only 8 non-profits on Amelia Island to receive 50 tickets to sell. These tickets were generously donated to the Amelia Island Chamber Music Festival as a fundraiser and we get to keep 100% of the profits from the sales. The concert will feature country music artists Craig Morris and Dustin Lynch on June 22 at the Ybor Alvarez Sports Complex at 3243 Bailey Road, Fernandina Beach. Doors open at 3pm.

Hotlanta sets your feet firmly on Bourbon Street in New Orleans. Songs from Fats Waller, Hoagy Carmichael, Louie Armstrong, Jelly Roll Morton, plus many old favorites like “Sweet Georgia Brown”, “Royal Garden Blues”, “South”, “Hard Hearted Hannah”, and “When the Saints Go Marchin’ In,” are all part of Hotlanta’s musical treat. Beyond the South, Hotlanta’s music has been enjoyed at clubs and jazz festivals throughout Europe and Asia.

Two of the greatest conductors of our generation, Robert Spano and Donald Runnicles, are also accomplished pianists. During his 11 seasons as music director of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, Robert Spano has elevated the ASO to new levels of international prominence and acclaim. Mr. Spano, who has conducted the greatest orchestras around the world, also is music director of the Aspen Music Festival and School. Donald Runnicles is general music director of the Deutsche Oper Berlin and chief conductor of the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra. Mr. Runnicles is also music director of the Grand Teton Music Festival and principal guest conductor of the ASO. David Coucheron, concertmaster of the ASO, has soloed with many of the world’s leading orchestras. Christopher Rex is principal cellist of the ASO.

Zuill Bailey is widely considered one of the premiere cellists in the world. His artistry, technical wizardry and engaging personality have secured his place as one of the most sought-after cellists today. A consummate concerto soloist, Mr. Bailey has been featured with the symphony orchestras of Los Angeles, Chicago, San Francisco, Indianapolis, Dallas, Louisville, Honolulu, Milwaukee, Nashville, Toronto, Minnesota, Utah, Israel, and the Bruchner Orchestra in Linz, Austria. His performance of the Solo Suites for Cello of Johann Sebastian Bach is a repeat of his acclaimed performances at the Ravinia Festival and New York’s Le Poisson Rouge.

The Linden String Quartet is one the country’s premier young string ensembles. Founded in spring 2008, the Linden has enjoyed remarkable success in four short years, winning the Gold Medal and Grand Prize of the 2009 Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition, the Coleman-Barstow Prize at the 2009 Coleman National Chamber Ensemble Competition, First Prize at the 2010 Hugo Kauder Competition, the 2010 Concert Artists Guild Victor Elmaleh Competition, and most recently, the ProQuartet Prize at the 9th Borciani International String Quartet Competition. Violist James Dunham is active internationally as a recitalist and guest artist.

Robert McDuffie is one of the premier violinists on the world stage. A Grammy- nominated artist, he has appeared as soloist with most of the world’s major orchestras, including the New York and Los Angeles Philharmonics; the Chicago, San Francisco and St. Louis Symphonies; the Philadelphia and Cleveland Orchestras; and the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra, the North German Radio Orchestra, the Düsseldorf Symphony, the Frankfurt Radio Orchestra, the Hamburg Symphony and Orchestra del Teatro alla Scala. Mr. McDuffie is the founder of the Rome Chamber Music Festival. He holds the Mansfield and Genelle Jennings Distinguished University Professor Chair at Mercer University in his hometown of Macon, Georgia. He plays a 1735 Guarneri del Gesù violin, known as the “Ladenburg.”

The Robert McDuffie Center for Strings is a highly selective program that is a special institute within Mercer University’s Townsend School of Music. McDuffie Center students work with some of the nation’s renowned string musicians, receiving music instruction of conservatory quality.

Violinist Chee-Yun’s flawless technique, dazzling tone and compelling artistry have enraptured audiences on five continents. Winner of the 1989 Young Concert Artists International Auditions and the 1990 Avery Fisher Career Grant, she performs regularly with the world’s foremost orchestras. Pianist Wendy Chen has garnered critical acclaim for her recitals and engagements with leading orchestras worldwide, with reviewers exclaiming that “having pianist Wendy Chen on the program is a guarantee that sparks will fly.” Cellist Andres Diaz, awarded the prestigious Avery Fisher Career Grant in 1998, has made many orchestral and recital appearances with symphonies throughout the world.

In this casual lunchtime concert, David Coucheron, along with Chistopher Rex and Elizabeth Pridgen join Laura Arden, Principal Clarinetist for the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra. Arden holds the Endowed Robert Shaw Chair and she has been a featured soloist with the ASO in works by Mozart, Weber, Debussy, Copland Bernstein, Finzi, Rossini, Shaw and Michael Gandolfi. She has also performed with the Cleveland Quartet. She will bring her talent, her Trio and her licorice stick to Cafe' Karibo. Concert goers are encourage to comeearly (12:00 Noon), enjoy lunch and then join us upstairs for the music of Messiaen, Greig, Verdi and Beethoven.

The world’s first classically-trained garage band, Time for Three defies traditional classification. Performing music from Bach and Brahms to their own arrangements of the Beatles, Katy Perry, Kanye West and Justin Timberlake, they have performed everywhere from Carnegie Hall to jazz clubs, European festivals, NFL games and the Indy 500.

Two-time Grammy Award winner and regional Emmy Award winner, Sylvia McNair has amassed a stellar, three-decade career in opera, oratorio, cabaret and musical theater. Her journey has taken her from the Metropolitan Opera to the Salzburg Festival…from the New York Philharmonic to the Rainbow Room…from the Ravinia Festival to the Plaza…from the pages of the New York Times to the cover of Cabaret Scenes. Having appeared as a soloist multiple times with nearly every major opera company and symphony orchestra in the world, this songbird has flown the classical coop. She is retracing her star route now with Gershwin, Porter, Sondheim and Bernstein.
